What follows is a list of web site addresses of universities, institutions, and medical facilities around the country that are conducting research into the possible causes of autism. Also included are some web sites that summarize different types of research being conducted. Please note that this list is necessarily incomplete; ASAT will make every effort to keep information current, and to keep adding to the information as new research emerges. Also note that ASAT is providing this resource for the interest of its readers. However, we are not assessing or evaluating the research being conducted at any of these sites; appearance on this list does not constitute ASAT endorsement or recommendation for any particular research site or study; and, as ever, we strongly urge parents and others to seek as much information as possible before participating in any research study or allowing their minor child to be the subject of any research study. Finally, readers will note that most of the peer reviewed research at these sites is focused on causation – far less (with the exception of educational and behaviorally-based models) around treatment.
A service of the U.S. National Institutes of Health Developed by the National Library of Medicine "ClinicalTrials.gov provides regularly updated information about federally and privately supported clinical research in human volunteers. ClinicalTrials.gov gives you information about a trial's purpose, who may participate, locations, and phone numbers for more details. The information provided on ClinicalTrials.gov should be used in conjunction with advice from health care professionals. Before searching, you may want to learn more about clinical trials."
